October is here and of course that means it’s time for horror movies.
Several MNFCA members are reviewing scary flicks both new and old. However, that’s not the only genre getting noticed. As usual Minnesota critics are taking a look at all types of movies and gearing up for this year’s Twin Cities Film Festival.

With the fall semester in full swing, many colleges across the country are holding their homecoming ceremonies.
That includes the University of Minnesota, which just held theirs last week. With that in mind, here’s a little MNFCA homecoming, where members shared where they went to college, what they learned about film, and how it shaped their roles as critics today.

September has been a month with a mix of action holdovers from summer and horror movies ahead of October.
Plenty more is going on in the world of movies, though, than just “The Nun 2” and “Gran Turismo.” For example, the fall film festival season is getting underway. The MNFCA has been covering all of the above and much more.

As a result, members of the MNFCA used the last few weeks to review the final summer movies and several smaller releases. Many also published retrospective reviews of older films.

“Barbie” continued to dominate the box office over the last month but August still had plenty of other releases in cinemas.
The giant monster sequel “The Meg 2,” the comic book adaptation “Blue Beetle,” the vampire flick “The Last Voyage of the Demeter” and more all came out in theaters in the last several weeks. Members of the MNFCA were on hand to review those and many more.

The “Barbenheimer” phenomenon has taken the movie world by storm, capturing the attention of moviegoers and dominating the box office.
Members of the MNFCA were all over the release of both films, with plenty of reviews and commentary. Those two weren’t the only releases in recent weeks, though, and Minnesota critics reviewed a number of other films, too.

Recently, Minnesota critics reviewed “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” and “The Flash.” Movie coverage didn’t end there, though, as members covered plenty of other new, smaller releases, and revisited older pictures.

Memorial Day weekend means the first month of the summer movie season has wrapped up.
New releases ranged from the Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” to the action sequel “Fast X.” Also coming out was the live action “Little Mermaid” from Disney.
