Several critics concluded special Halloween series and reviewed recently released horror pictures. Many also reviewed films likely to earn recognition during award season, with several screened at the Twin Cities Film Festival.
Here’s what the Alliance has been up to lately.
Halloween is here and that means it’s time to wrap up this Better Know the Alliance segment dedicated to horror movies.
In this final piece, critics Paul McGuire Grimes, Meg Hafdahl, Matt Hambidge, Frank Lee, Matthew Liedke, Ruth Maramis, Mark McPherson, Nicholas Palodichuk, Frank Stanko and Tyler Strandberg share their memories and thoughts on the genre.

Halloween is tomorrow and in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, it’s shaping up to be a good one, with a great weather forecast.
However, plenty of members of the MNFCA will be inside watching horror movies. In this segment, some of those critics, including Hunter Friesen, Joseph Froemming, Jay Gabler and Kyle Goethe, share their views on how they entered the genre and personal favorites.

Halloween time is in full swing and award season is right around the corner.
Both periods are well reflected by work the MNFCA has been doing. A plethora of horror movies have been reviewed, as have award contenders such as “Tár.”

Members who’re seeing movies at TIFF have released some reviews giving readers an early look at upcoming pictures. It wasn’t all film festival premiers, though, as plenty of other new releases were also reviewed, such as the new horror flick “Barbarian.”
