Alliance Lately: Issue No. 78

There’s a great deal of variety at theaters right now.

In recent weeks, the comic book action film “The Flash” was released, as well as the animated feature “Elemental” and the drama “Past Lives.” MNFCA members have been keeping up with those three and many more with several reviews.

Here’s what the Alliance has been up to lately.

Joe Botten

At his site, Botten reviewed new releases “The Blackening,” “Elemental,” “The Flash,” “The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster,” “Daliland,” “Brooklyn 45,” “Surrounded,” “No Hard Feelings” and “Asteroid City.”

Eli Brau

On A Cinephile Corner, Brau reviewed 2023 releases “Reality,” “Paint,” “Elemental,” “Falcon Lake,” “John Wick 4,” “Polite Society,” “65,” “Inside,” “No Hard Feelings” and “Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret.” He also wrote about 1998’s “Rushmore,” 2001’s “The Royal Tenenbaums” and 2008’s “Wall-E.”

Brian Eggert

At Deep Focus Review, Eggert wrote about new films “The Blackening,” “No Hard Feelings” and the new “Indiana Jones” film, “The Dial of Destiny.” He also wrote about 1962’s “Cleo from 5 to 7” and 2004’s “Oceans Twelve.”

Hunter Friesen

On The Cinema Dispatch, Friesen reviewed new films “Extraction 2,” “Past Lives” and “Indiana Jones: The Dial of Destiny.”

Kyle Goethe and Nicholas Palodichuk

For their video series Kyle and Nick on Film, Goethe and Palodichuk discussed 1922’s “Nosferatu,” 1954’s “Rear Window,” 1983’s “10 to Midnight,” 1993’s “Matinee” and 2023’s “Tetris.”

Paul McGuire Grimes

For his series Paul’s Trip to the Movies,” Grimes reviewed new flicks “The Flash,” “Elemental” and “Asteroid City.”

Matt Hambidge

At News From the Couch, Hambidge reviewed new releases “The Flash” and “Elemental.”

Frank Lee

For Forum Communications, Lee wrote about the comic book film “The Flash” and Pixar’s “Elemental.”

Matthew Liedke

At his site, Liedke reviewed the drama “Past Lives” and Pixar’s “Elemental.”

Ruth Maramis
