Alliance Lately: Issue No. 71

February is here and with it were some new films such as the mystery movie “Missing” and the thriller “Knock at the Cabin.”

Those films, as well as pictures nominated for Oscars, were all under review by MNFCA members. This included movies such as “To Leslie” and “Living.”

Here’s what the Alliance has been up to lately.

Joe Botten

At his site, Botten reviewed recent releases “Spoiler Alert,” “Nanny,” “Darby and the Dead,” “Wildcat,” “Hunt,” “The Apology,” “Christmas Bloody Christmas,” “Shotgun Wedding,” “Knock at the Cabin,” “80 for Brady” and “Baby Ruby.”

He also wrote about 1977’s “Exorcist II” and 1986’s “The Golden Child.”

Eli Brau

At Cinephile Corner, Brau reviewed new films “Missing,” “Sorry about the Demon,” Jung_E,” “Skinamarink,” “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish,” “You People” and “Knock at the Cabin.”

He also wrote about 2016’s “Train to Busan” and 2021’s “Old.”

Brian Eggert

For Deep Focus Review, Eggert reviewed new movies “The Pale Blue Eye,” “Return to Seoul,” “Close,” “Infinity Pool,” “Knock at the Cabin,” “All that Breathes,” “To Leslie” and “Magic Mike’s Last Dance.”

He also wrote about 1997’s “Gattaca,” 2015’s “Magic Mike XXL” and 2021’s “The Sadness.” Additionally, he appeared on the Twin Cities NBC affiliate KARE 11 to discuss 2022 in film.

Hunter Friesen

At Cinema Dispatch, Friesen reviewed recent pictures “80 for Brady,” “You People,” “Infinity Pool” and “Knock at the Cabin.” He also reviewed films premiering at the Sundance Film Festival including “The Starling Girl,” “Fair Play,” “Theater Camp,” “Bad Behavior,” “Sometimes I think about Dying” and “Run Rabbit Run.”

Additionally, he wrote about the winners and losers from the Oscar nominations.

Joseph Froemming

For his Joe-Down series, Froemming reviewed the 2006 action film “Crank.”

Kyle Goethe and Nicholas Palodichuk

For their series Kyle and Nick on Film, Goethe and Palodichuk reviewed the Oscar nominated film “Tar.”

Paul McGuire Grimes

For his Paul’s Trip to the Movies series, Grimes reviewed “Shotgun Wedding,” “Knock at the Cabin” and “80 for Brady.” He also interviewed the cast of “80 for Brady” and appeared on the show Twin Cities Live.

Danny Haslach

Haslach’s podcast FilmBird released an episode covering predictions for the upcoming Academy Awards.

Frank Lee

For the Brainerd Dispatch, Lee wrote about the mystery film “Missing” and the drama “Living.”

Matthew Liedke

At his site, Liedke reviewed late 2022 films and new movies, including “The Son,” “Causeway,” “Living,” “To Leslie,” “Knock at the Cabin,” “Missing” and “Aftersun.”

Ruth Maramis

At FlixChatter, Maramis reviewed 2022 films “Living” and “Decision to Leave.” She also shared her thoughts on the Oscar nominations and listed five scores she thought were snubbed by the Academy.

Mark McPherson

On his website, McPherson reviewed new movies “Knock at the Cabin” and “80 for Brady.”

Tyler Strandberg

For the site InSession Film, Strandberg reviewed the horror comedy “M3gan.”
