Award season came to a close Sunday night with the Oscars ceremony.
In the time following the ceremony, MNFCA members shared thoughts on the Academy Awards in written pieces and podcasts. Their work in the last two weeks wasn’t limited to awards talk, though.
Reviews for new movies such as “X,” “The Outfit” and more were also published. Here’s what the Alliance has been up to lately.
Sean Blanford
At his site, Blanford reviewed the new anime picture “Jujutsu Kaisen 0.”
Joe Botten
On his site, Botten reviewed new releases “The Outfit,” “Windfall,” “Master” and “X.”
Brian Eggert
At Deep Focus Review, Eggert reviewed “Deep Water,” “The Outfit” and “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” He also wrote about 2005’s “A History of Violence” and 2020’s “Shakespeare’s ShitStorm.”
Kelly Florence and Meg Hafdahl
On their podcast Horror Rewind, the duo talked about what they watched at the 2022 Renegade Film Festival. They also discussed the new “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” movie.
Joseph Froemming
For his Joe-Down review series, Froemming covered the 2017 comedy “CHIPS.”
Kyle Goethe
At his site, Goethe reviewed the 2021 sci-fi “Dune.” He was also joined by fellow MNFCA member Nicholas Palodichuk for the series Kyle & Nick on Film to discuss 1960’s “The Apartment,” 1988’s “They Live,” 2001’s “Donnie Darko,” 2008’s “The Midnight Meat Train,” “2014’s “The Guest” and 2016’s “In a Valley of Violence.”
Paul McGuire Grimes
For his series Paul’s Trip to the Movies, Grimes reviewed “The Outfit,” “Windfall” and “The Lost City.” He also appeared on Twin Cities Live on March 18 and 25 to discuss the Academy Awards.
Matt Hambidge
At News From the Couch, Hambidge reviewed “Deep Water,” “X” and “The Outfit.” Additionally, on the Cinema Stubs podcast, he talked about “The Lost City” and gave a recap of the Academy Awards ceremony.
Danny Haslach
On the FilmBird podcast, Haslach discussed “The Batman.”
Frank Lee
For the Brainerd Dispatch, Lee wrote about the anime “Jujutsu Kaisen 0” and “The Lost City.”
Matthew Liedke
At his site, Liedke reviewed “The Outfit” and “X.” He also wrote a column about the Best Documentary Feature nominees.
Ruth Maramis
At FlixChatter, Maramis reviewed “Deep Water,” “The Outfit” and “The Lost City.” She also ranked the nominees for the acting categories and Best Picture.
Following the Oscars, she also wrote an Academy Awards recap. She made a guest appearance on the Downlow.d podcast as well to discuss Pixar’s “Turning Red.”
Mark McPherson
At his site, McPherson wrote a column about issues related to the Academy’s animating categories. Additionally, he wrote a piece about “The Batman” for Twin Cities Geek.
McPherson also held a panel at the Anime Detour convention about films in the past year, such as “Titane.”
Nicholas Palodichuk
On the St. Paul Filmcast, Palodichuk spoke with actress Elora Riley.
Frank Stanko
To continue his look at films from 1998, Stanko reviewed “Primary Colors,” “Wild Things” and “Mercury Rising.”
