Horror was back on the menu for the MNFCA recently with the release of the new “Scream.” The Ghostface slasher wasn’t the only flick under review, though, as plenty of other movies were discussed and written about.
Here’s what the Alliance has been up to lately.
Sean Blanford
At his website, Blanford reviewed the fifth “Scream” picture.
Joe Botten
On his site, Botten wrote reviews on “The 355,” “Scream,” “Brazen,” “The Legend of La Llorona,” “Shattered” an “Hotel Transylvania 4.”
Brian Eggert
At Deep Focus Review, Eggert reviewed new releases “Drive My Car,” “Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy,” “The 355,” “Scream” and “The Tragedy of Macbeth.” He also wrote about 1998’s “Halloween H20,” 2018’s “Damsel” and “The Tomorrow War” from earlier in 2021.
Kelly Florence and Meg Hafdahl
On the Horror Rewind podcast, Florence and Hafdahl discussed the 2021 horror film “The Night House.”
Hunter Friesen
For the Buffed Film Buffs, Friesen reviewed the film “Swan Song,” starring Mahershala Ali.
Joseph Froemming
For his Joe-Down series, Froemming reviewed 1990’s “Hard to Kill.”
Kyle Goethe
At his site, Goethe reviewed the new “Hotel Transylvania” film. He was also joined by fellow MNFCA member Nicholas Palodichuk for the series Kyle and Nick on Film to discuss 2021 films “The Power of the Dog,” “Nightmare Alley” and “Licorice Pizza.” They also reviewed the 1980 classic, “The Shining.”
Paul McGuire Grimes
For his series Paul’s Trip to the Movies,” Grimes reviewed “The 355” and “Scream.” He also spoke with cast/crew of “Scream” and “The Tragedy of Macbeth.”
Grimes also appeared on the television program Twin Cities Live on Jan. 8 and 14.
Melinda Lavine
For the Duluth News Tribune, Lavine previewed the NorShor Classic Film Series taking place at the Twin Ports’ historic theater.
Frank Lee
For the Brainerd Dispatch, Lee reviewed “The Matrix Resurrections” and “West Side Story.”
Matthew Liedke
At his site, Liedke reviewed a mix of 2021 and 2022 movies, including “The Lost Daughter,” “C’mon C’mon,” “Pig,” “Mass,” “The Tragedy of Macbeth,” “The Matrix Resurrections,” “Hotel Transylvania: Transformania,” “The 355” and “Scream.”
Ruth Maramis
On FlixChatter, Maramis reviewed 2021 pictures “The Lost Daughter” and “The Tender Bar.” She also wrote about 2020’s “The Water Man” and a recap of her 52 Films by Women Challenge in 2021.
Mark McPherson
At his site, McPherson reviewed new films “Escape from Mogadishu” and “Scream.”
Frank Stanko
For the Wahpeton-Breckenridge Daily News, Stanko reviewed the fifth “Scream” film. He also wrote about the films “Hard Rain” and “Fallen,” both from 1998.
