Award season appears to be underway with MNFCA members reviewing potential contenders such as “Spencer,” “Belfast” and “Passing lately.
Additionally, several members reviewed the new “Ghostbusters” film, the Williams sisters biopic “King Richard,” and much more.

Joe Botten
At his site, Botten reviewed 2021 films “Passing,” “Mayor Pete,” “Red Notice,” “Home Sweet Home Alone,” “Belfast,” “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” “Tick, Tick… Boom,” “Night Raiders,” “Last Survivors,” “Zeros and Ones,” “The Feast,” “House of Gucci,” “Encanto,” “The Humans,” “C’mon C’mon” and “Bruised.”
Brian Eggert
At Deep Fous Review, Eggert reviewed new releases “Spencer,” “Passing” and “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.” Eggert also wrote about the 2018 films “Shadow” and “Thunder Road,” as well as the 1944 movie “Laura.”
He also published a list of his top 10 surreal horror films.
Kelly Florence and Meg Hafdahl
In the latest episodes of the Horror Rewind podcast, Florence and Hafdahl discussed “Halloween Kills” and “Paranormal Activity Next of Kin.”
Hunter Friesen
For the Northern Iowan, Friesen reviewed the new Wes Anderson film “The French Dispatch.”
Joseph Froemming
For his Joe-Down series, Froemming reviewed the 1995 film “Judge Dredd.”
Kyle Goethe
At his site, Goethe wrote a piece about the upcoming animated “Mario” film.
Also, for the YouTube series Kyle and Nick on Film, fellow MNFCA member Nicholas Palodichuk joined Goethe to review 1981’s “Heavy Metal,” 1971’s “A Bay of Blood,” 2003’s “The Matrix Reloaded,” 1985’s “The Black Cauldron,” 2019’s “Daniel Isn’t Real” and 1967’s “Point Blank.”
Paul McGuire Grimes
For his series Paul’s Trip to the Movies, Grimes reviewed “Spencer,” “Red Notice,” “Belfast,” “King Richard,” “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” “Tick, Tick… Boom” and “House of Gucci.” Grimes also appeared on the Nov. 12 and 22 episodes of Twin Cities Live.
Melinda Lavine
For the Duluth News Tribune, Lavine reviewed the new sci-fi film “Dune.”
Frank Lee
For the Brainerd Dispatch, Lee reviewed the sci-fi film “Dune” and the adventure movie “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.”
Matthew Liedke
At his site, Liedke reviewed new releases “Belfast,” “Spencer,” “Passing,” “The French Dispatch,” “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” and “King Richard.”
Ruth Maramis
At FlixChatter, Maramis reviewed “House of Gucci,” “Belfast,” “Red Notice” and “King Richard.”
Maramis also wrote about Adam Driver’s best roles in honor of his birthday.
Mark McPherson
