The Alliance Lately: Issue No. 32

Movies released in theaters and on streaming platforms were reviewed by MNFCA members recently.

Several members wrote about the new “Fast and Furious” movie that hit theaters as well as the animated feature “Luca” on Disney+. Those two films were among many others covered by the MNFCA in the last two weeks.

Here’s what the Alliance has been up to lately.

Joe Botten

At his site, Botten reviewed the new “Fast and Furious” film “F9.” He also wrote extensively about the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival.

Brian Eggert

At Deep Focus Review, Eggert reviewed “New Order,” “Dream Horse,” “Frailty” and “Luca.”

Kelly Florence and Meg Hafdahl

In recent episodes of their podcast Horror Rewind, Hafdahl and Florence discussed the series “Ghoulies and Critters” and the new film “Werewolves Within.”

Joseph Froemming

For his Joe-Down series, Froemming reviewed the 1999 film “The Boondock Saints.

Kyle Goethe

At his site, Goethe wrote about 1983’s “Vacation” and reviewed the new film “The Sparks Brothers.” Goethe also talked about 1970’s “Airport” and its 1974 sequel, as well as “The Karate Kid III” and the comedy “Airplane” with fellow MNFCA member Nicholas Palodichuk on the series Kyle and Nick on Film.

Paul McGuire Grimes

For his series Paul’s Trip to the Movies, Grimes reviewed “Luca,” “Good on Paper” and “F9.” Grimes also appeared on Twin Cities Live on June 18 and 25.

Jeremy Lebens

For The Daily Rotation, Lebens reviewed new releases “F9” and “Voyagers.”

Frank Lee

For the Brainerd Dispatch, Lee reviewed the “Peter Rabbit” sequel and “F9.”

Matthew Liedke

At his site, Liedke reviewed “The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard,” “12 Mighty Orphans,” ” F9” and “Luca.” Liedke also wrote out his thoughts on the closing of the Edina Cinema and Uptown Theatre.

Ruth Maramis

For FlixChatter, Maramis reviewed “The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard,” “An Oral History of the Green Knight,” “Luca” and “F9.”

Mark McPherson

At his own site, McPherson reviewed “Dual Mania,” “Bo Burnham: Inside,” “Luca” “F9” and “Black Widow.” Additionally, at Twin Cities Geek McPherson wrote about “The Sparks Brothers.

Nicholas Palodichuk

On the St. Paul Filmcast, Palodichuk spoke with actress Ella Frank and actor Paul Cram.
