The Alliance Lately: Issue No. 12

October is well known as a month of horror with Halloween as its finale, and the MNFCA is clearly aware. Along with reviews of new releases, Alliance members discussed several scary season movies.

Here’s what the Alliance has been up to lately.

Joe Botten

At his site, Botten reviewed “Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo,” “A Howling in the Woods,” ” Monsterland,” “Death of Me,” “The Lie,” “Black Box” and “Possessor” for his 31 Days to Scare series. Botten also wrote about the films “The Devil to Pay,” “A Call to Spy,” “The Great American Lie” and “2067.”

Brian Eggert

At Deep Focus Review Eggert reviewed 1992’s “Candyman,” as well as new releases “The Personal History of David Copperfield” and “The Devil All the Time.”

Kelly Florence and Meg Hafdahl

On the Horror Rewind podcast, Florence and Hafdahl shared a throwback episode where they talked about the classic film “Carrie.”

Kyle Goethe

At his site, Goethe started his 31 Days of Horror series with write-ups of “The Amityville Horror,” “Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare,” “The Village of the Damned,” “Invasion of the Body Snatchers,” “Society” and “Darlin.” For the YouTube series Kyle & Nick on Film, Goethe also talked about the film “Portrait of a Lady on Fire” with fellow MNFCA member Nicholas Palodichuk.

Paul McGuire Grimes

Over the last week Grimes reviewed “The Glorias,” “Then Came You,” and “On the Rocks.” Grimes also interviewed the casts of “Then Came You” and “The Haunting of Bly Manor.”

Eric Houston

On YouTube, Houston produced a video about the career of Caroline Munro, known for her work in Hammer horror films and the James Bond franchise.

Jeremy Lebens

At The Daily Rotation, Lebens reviewed the horror film “Possessor.”

Matthew Liedke

At his site, Liedke reviewed the horror film “Host” for the Large Association of Movie Blogs’ Movie of the Month.

Ruth Maramis

On FlixChatter, Maramis gave a recap of what her site covered in the month of September.

Mark McPherson

For Twin Cities Geek, McPherson wrote about the new drama “On the Rocks.”

Nicholas Palodichuk

On the St. Paul Filmcast, Palodichuk spoke with Madeline Karita, a film actress, writer and producer.

Frank Stanko

For the Pop Culturists, Stanko wrote about 1985’s “Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters.”
